Troy Lee Griffith

Evans Funeral Home of Jefferson announces the death of Mr. Troy Lee Griffith, age 93, of Homer, Georgia, who passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Mr. Griffith was born on March 1, 1930, in Jackson County, Georgia, a son to the late P. Tom Griffith and the late Annie Burel Peppers Byrd. Mr. Griffith owned and operated the Griffith Oil Company, worked at Athens Regional Hospital where he supervised the maintenance department and was an excellent carpenter and block mason. Mr. Griffith was a veteran of the U.S. Army, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class, serving in the Korean War. In addition to his parents, Mr. Griffith was preceded in death by his son, Michael Loy Griffith, sisters, Ann Griffith and Sally Mae McCullough.  Brothers, Harold Griffith, Billy Joe Griffith, Ray Griffith, George Griffith and stepdaughter, Lisa Martin.

Survivors include his children, Troy Lee Griffith Jr. and his wife Patsy of Commerce, Thomas Curtis Griffith and his partner Sean Carrigan of Danielsville, Richard Keith Griffith and his wife Lynda of Ila, Marsha Hammock of Tybee Island; brothers, Jack Griffith, Johnny Griffith and Scott Griffith all of Eatonton and sisters, Mary Denham, Jeanette Herring and Janie Watson all of Eatonton; stepson, Parker Griffith of Jefferson; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren also survive.

A Graveside service will be held 1:00 P.M. Saturday November 18, 2023 at Woodbine Cemetery in Jefferson, Georgia.
